Spring Concert 2023

Posted on: 29th Mar 2023

Our Spring Concert fronted the start of the busiest two weeks of the music calendar so far. All of our big ensembles performed in this concert; Orchestra, String Orchestra, Jazz Band, Choir 3&4, Choir 5&6, guitar group, cello ensemble, sax group, our Piano Trio and two of our Year 6 Rock bands. It was a particularly rewarding and exciting concert as the music department has got to the stage where the children’s musicianship skills have progressed so much that we can now begin to tackle much more demanding pieces of music. The Orchestra gave an excellent performance of Paganini’s Capriccio which requires players to be between grade 2-5 in standard. The cello ensemble performed Jupiter from Holst’s suite The Planets and the String Orchestra performed My Heart will go on. Our two Year 6 Rock Bands also thoroughly enjoyed their moment in the spotlight as they each performed a song by Imagine Dragons. Musical experiences like this can influence a child’s thinking and feeling about music as they move into adulthood and memories made now are likely to stay with them for life.
