Religious Education

We pride ourselves on reflecting the multicultural community of learners that we are here at WGPS.

Our aim is to promote the spiritual, moral, social, cultural and intellectual development of pupils.  We do this by exploring a range of religion and human experiences which raise fundamental questions of belief and value.

Religious Education makes a key contribution to promote ‘British values’ and to prepare pupils for life in modern Britain. Pupils are encouraged to ask questions and to recognise the rights of others to hold their own views.

Religious education provokes challenging questions about meaning and purpose in life, beliefs about God, ultimate reality, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human. In RE, children learn about and from religions and world views in local, national and global contexts, to discover, explore and consider different answers to these questions.

Therefore, we cover a range of religions throughout all year groups. We also allow for timely and sensitive responses to to unforeseen events of a religious, moral or philosophical nature, whether local, national or global.
