Our fabulous WGPS musicians enjoyed a tremendous day out at the Stratford and East London Music Festival again this year. Both choirs (Y3&4 and Y5&6) performed alongside our two large ensembles Jazz Band and String Orchestra. We had 82 children taking part which is a tremendous achievement. Our Jazz Band and String Orchestra came away with joint First place in the Orchestra category and both of our choirs were awarded highly commended in their category as they competed against 6 other schools. The standard was exceptionally high this year. WGPS was applauded for their musicianship including their ability to follow through on a vocal phrase and demonstrate an understanding of word painting. In fact, the adjudicator was so impressed with our WGPS musicians that she personally congratulated us on the talent in our school and the opportunities the children receive. Well done to all - what a great day out!
