In the Spotlight - Design Technology

Posted on: 15th Jan 2024

Across the last few weeks in DT, the children have been finding out about what makes a good structure. In particular, we have been exploring bridges and how different shapes can be used to support a surface for people or vehicles to move across. So far, we have made bridges out of cardboard and straws, exploring their ideas and then using triangles for their structures. This week, they conducted an experiment to find out which style of arch is able to take the most weight. With this information, the children will soon be able to design their own bridges using a variety of different materials.
