Hello everyone, this is Mr. Southey, the Director of Sport at Woodford Green Preparatory School. I’m delighted to share with you the highlights of our amazing sports day that took place on Thursday 25th May 2023. It was a day full of fun, excitement, and achievement for all the students and staff.

The sports day was based around three activities: running, jumping, and throwing. These are core skills for athletics and they help develop fitness, coordination, and confidence. We had a variety of events for each activity, such as sprints, relays, long jump, high jump and javelin. The students competed in house teams where they represented their house colours: green, blue, and yellow.

The competition was fierce but friendly, as the students cheered for their teammates and showed great sportsmanship. There were many impressive performances and personal bests achieved by the students. 

The sports day ended with a medal ceremony, where the winners of each sprint race received their medals. The overall house champion was also announced, based on the total points scored by each team. The winner was… The Roman House! Congratulations to all the students and staff of Roman House for their outstanding performance.

I would like to thank everyone who helped make this sports day a success: the parents and carers who came to support their children, the volunteers who helped with the organisation and equipment, and the teachers who supervised and encouraged their students. Most of all, I would like to thank the students for their enthusiasm, effort, and excellence. You are all stars!

I hope you enjoyed this sports day as much as I did. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our school’s values of Nurture, Creativity, Curiosity and Excellence. I look forward to seeing you all again next year for another fantastic sports day!
