World Child Cancer Sleepout
Posted on: 15th May 2019On Friday My Dad and I went to sleep out at the Breyer Group Stadium the home of Leyton Orient FC , the point of doing a sleep out is to sleep with some cardboard and a sleeping bag and to raise money for charity. We started a fundraising page on World Child Cancer (link is below). We raised more than we expected. We made about £8,000 to give to charity and the government will double this to £16,000. In developing countries most parents whose children have cancer travel for days and nights without food or water. When they get to the hospital they have to sleep there for months out in the cold. The money we raised will help them with accommodation and treatment for their children.
There were about 40 people taking part, it spat with rain and it got quite cold in the morning. I was really glad to go home and sleep in my comfortable bed. During the night we saw a fox wandering about the stadium and we made it leave. During the sleep out I made a nice cosy tunnel out of cardboard and had chocolate and three bottles of water
When I woke up in the morning my tunnel was completely collapsed! So I was sleeping flattened halfway during the night (but I did move spots).
