Welcome Old Reds

We are in the process of building our Alumni community, with a view to sharing news, building connections and possibly hosting future events.  We would like to connect with past pupils, to hear your memories of school life and your story beyond the prep school years.  It is always a proud moment when we say farewell to our Year Six pupils at our Annual Prizegiving Event.  As each year group moves on to the secondary stage of their education and beyond, we would like to stay connected, unearth, share and celebrate the rich history of a school established in 1932.

For data protection purposes, alumni registration is only open to past students over the age of 18.

This year’s Prizegiving was a joyful celebration of music, memories and community. Highlights included performances from our Gwynne Solo Singing and Clemence Cup winners, a lively set from Year 6 band One Perfection, and a heartfelt speech from the Head Boy and Head Girl. We also welcomed back Old Red Crispin Reed, whose hilarious tales from his WGPS days had the audience laughing throughout, and Mrs Patel, who shared a moving tribute to the school and its staff. It was a fantastic evening. Thank you to everyone who helped make it so special. The message for Year 6 was loud and clear - you have made the most of a great foundation, and now you are ready to write the next chapter of your story. Continue to be kind, curious and creative, and always strive for excellence in whatever you do. Once a Red, Always a Red. — WGPS () Jul 3, 2025

Our brilliant Bollywood Club wowed their audience not once but twice! After a term of hard work, they performed with incredible energy, style and confidence. Their complex choreography featured smooth transitions, sharp coordination and real flair. Their energy was so infectious the audience were ready to dance too! — WGPS () Jul 1, 2025

Year 6, you are a class act! Parents and staff watched your final production, The Wrong Way Round, with great pride. The character and personality of this year group shone through. There were some standout performances. The evil Miss Sharman was brilliant, and the solos, duets, and Thriller dance moves had us all wanting to join in! You’ve been in the spotlight recently with an incredible few weeks of achievements, from your fantastic performance in the play to your energy and teamwork on Sports Day and at the Swimming Gala. What a way to finish your time at WGPS. We are all so proud of you! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you. Once a Red, Always a Red. ❤️— WGPS () Jul 1, 2025

Thank you to the PTA for our brand new Science Hub. We are excited to unveil this fully refurbished space designed to spark curiosity and elevate scientific learning. From state of the art digital microscopes and rugged robots to cutting edge cooking equipment and portable ovens for hands-on experiments, our hub is packed with exciting new resources including a fresh set of lab coats, a new skeleton model, and an interactive whiteboard to bring lessons to life. There is also a cosy science reading corner, air purifying plants, a working wall for projects, and plenty of storage to keep everything organised and ready to go. A huge thank you to our incredible PTA for making this possible with their generous support. We can not wait to start the year with a scientific bang! 🚀 — WGPS () Jun 30, 2025

A fantastic day at the Olympic pool for our 2025 Swimming Gala. Fifty-eight races gave pupils the chance to compete, challenge themselves, and support one another. Parental support from the stands added to the atmosphere and spurred swimmers on. Whether you left with a wristband, a medal, or the satisfaction of giving your best, you should be proud. Well done to our two Gala Champions. — WGPS () Jun 27, 2025

This year’s Summer Jazz Concert at Hawkey Hall was a spectacular success! The vibe, the atmosphere, the decorations, the cabaret-style feel, and most of all, the amazing sound quality and musicality delivered by our children, made it an event not to be missed. Many of us left the evening bursting with pride and still humming well-known jazz standards. What a performance! The Orchestra opened with Goldfinger from James Bond, followed by the String Orchestra, Cello Ensemble, Flute Group, Guitar Group, Brass Ensemble, Sax Group, String Quartet and One Perfection. The evening closed in style with the Choirs 3&4 wearing sunshades, the Jazz Band got toes tapping with Tuxedo Junction, and Choirs 5&6 sang in beautiful harmony with a barbershop-style Mr Blue Sky before donning top hats for New York, New York. Even Frank Sinatra would have been impressed! #PupilTalent — WGPS () Jun 27, 2025

From WGPS to Founder! Today we welcomed back Old Red Luca Van Wijngaarden, who at only 20 years old and still a student at Loughborough University has launched his own goalkeeper glove brand, VanGlove 🧤 Luka spoke to pupils during our sports awards assembly about his journey from WGPS to building a business, sharing inspiring insights into sport, goalkeeping, and pursuing your goals both on and off the pitch. VanGlove is already gaining real momentum, with professional goalkeepers choosing the brand, an incredible achievement for a business launched less than a year ago. Needless to say, WGPS goalkeepers will be proudly wearing VanGlove! 👏 A true inspiration to our aspiring athletes, creatives, and future entrepreneurs! vanglove.com 27 s— WGPS () Jun 23, 2025

Year 5 completed the Stebbing Run this week, a one mile challenge made even more testing by the heat! The great thing about the Stebbing Run is that whether you come first or last, you are really racing against yourself, aiming to beat your previous time. A brilliant blend of competition, perseverance and personal achievement. Well done all! — WGPS () Jun 19, 2025

EYFS Sports Day: Small but Mighty! Our EYFS Sports Day was full of fun, challenge and competitive spirit. They may be little, but they were determined to give it their all! The children were every bit as competitive as the teachers! At just 3 and 4 years old, their focus and determination were clear to see, whether it was racing to the finish line, carefully balancing along a beam or landing a beanbag in a bucket. Well done EYFS – we commend your spirit, your effort and your joyful enthusiasm! — WGPS () Jun 17, 2025
